Pressure Measurement- Manometer Comparison

This HERS Advanced Rater Training Course, Residential Pressure Measurement, introduces pressure measurement basics and the equipment used for measurement. It is designed for students who have completed building science training courses and desire training enabling operation of a digital pressure gauge. Different available equipment, common problems and simple field checks are detailed.

This course focuses on air pressure measurement using the Retrotech DM-2 and the Energy Conservatory DG-700 digital manometers. Demonstrations and instructions are provided for using each in conjunction with a blower door, a duct blaster and other diagnostic devices.

By completing this course, Raters will gain the ability to perform diagnostic tests in the field, asses the accuracy of measurements, trouble-shoot problems encountered and understand features of different equipment used.

COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Upon completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a knowledge of air pressure measurement fundamentals
  • Understand functions and operations of a digital manometer
  • Detail operational differences between the Retrotech DM-2 and the Energy Conservatory DG-700 digital manometers.
  • Understand and measure building air leakage with a digital manometer
  • Understand and measure duct leakage with a digital manometer
